In advance of the U.S. Marine Corps’ plans to declare initial operational capability for its F-35B, program officials from the F-35 program have begun to test the single-engine, stealthy jet in extreme climates, writes Amy Butler on Aviation Week’s Ares blog. An aircraft was taken to Florida (of all places….specifically Eglin AFB, Florida) for the extreme cold weather testing.
The McKinley Climatic Laboratory there can produce temperatures from -40 degrees to 120 degrees, Amy Butler wrote.
